Year 8 Options Evening

Thank you to everyone who attended yesterday’s Year 8 Options Evening. Please remember to hand your options choices form to Student Services no later than Friday 2nd March.

Skills for the future…

Yesterday was the third instalment of Building Skills for our Year 10 students and this time the focus was on understanding workplace jargon! Thank you to the session host, Tom Harrison, the Key Account Manager from ESH Group and to our Year 10 students who I understand were engaged throughout!

A trip to Horbury Library!

Reading group students from Years 7 and 8 visited Horbury Library this week to support their reading programme. Students found out about the different areas and aspects of a Library, and how it plays a huge part in our communities. They were also shown a tapestry depicting the history of Horbury!

Whilst in the ‘Community Area’ of the Library, students asked about a collection box for used postage stamps and discovered that a local gentleman collects them for a charity. Students were inspired by this idea and are currently setting up their own collection box for used postage stamps in our LRC, which they will be passing to this gentleman to help with his collection - how thoughtful!

Hitting the slopes!

Over 40 students from Years 10 and 11 are on their way to Sansicario as I write, for an action packed week of skiing and winter sport activities in Northern Italy! Hope you all have a fabulous time! Be sure to take plenty of pictures for my next blog!

Extension to the Cineworld deadline

It’s great to see that the majority of students have returned Cineworld consents and payments prior to the printed deadline for the visit - this has enabled us to proceed with this event, thank you!

I’m aware, however, that a significant number of students have not yet responded…. I really would like all students who earned this reward, through good behaviour and a positive attitude to learning, to join us at Cineworld for what is one of our most enjoyable mornings of the academic year! To allow this to happen I have asked Mr Lloyd to extend the deadline until Friday 2nd March.

Beautiful Berlin

Letters regarding the Berlin visit in October were handed out to interested Year 10 students this week - a copy of the letter can also be found here. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Mr Care or Mr Lloyd.

World Book Day - Thursday 1st March 2018

Remember, we’ll be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 1st March and students can come to school dressed as their favourite book character….just bring a copy of the book cover with you on the day to be in with a chance of winning our competition!

There’s no charge for the day - just lots of activities, including; guess the teacher, find the character, Scratch Club animated games and a photo booth …to name just a few.

Visit our Great Hall to sample one of the following from our Great Feast menu….Ministry of Magic Pasta, Gillyweed Soup with Golden Snitch Rolls, or a Butterbeer Acid Pop, all washed down with some Hogsmeade Fizz!
