Headteacher's Blog 26 - Thursday 29th March

 ♫ We’re soaring, flying! ♫

We’ll be finishing the term on a high later this evening with the final performance of High School Musical!

Well done to all the cast and crew, and to Miss Fisher, Mr Ray and Miss Booth for their hard work and dedication in delivering such a heart-warming performance throughout the week!

World Book Day

We were finally able to celebrate World Book Day today, after the Beast from the East scattered its winter weather all over our plans earlier in the month!

It was wonderful to see students and staff dressed up as their favourite book characters, collectively celebrating our love of books! See what we got up to and take a look at some of the fabulous outfits below!...

Easter Revision Sessions for Year 11

Remember, we’re hosting a series of revision sessions throughout the Easter break to help Year 11 students with their GCSE exam preparation. For more information, take a look at Mr Brook’s letter and timetable…. Rumour has it, the Easter bunny will be making an appearance with some chocolate gifts!

 Local Apprenticeship Opportunities

Apprenticeships combine practical on the job training with study and provide an opportunity to:

  • work alongside experienced staff
  • gain job-specific skills
  • earn a wage and get holiday pay
  • get time for study related to your role (usually one day a week).

You can apply for an apprenticeship while you’re still at school but to start one you’ll need to be:

  • 16 or over by the end of the summer holidays
  • living in England
  • not in full-time education.

To find out what apprenticeships are out there, take a look at GOV.UK’s Find an Apprenticeship search tool. You can also chat to our Careers Advisor, Mr Green, during his careers drop-in sessions, weekly on a Tuesday between 2.45pm and 3.45pm in the LRC.

 And finally…

I have spoken to all year groups in assemblies this week about the letter which you will find on the letters page of our website. The letter clearly outlines our expectations in relation to uniform and equipment. I am sure that parents and carers will appreciate the need for all of our students to be dressed for success and prepared for learning.

Thank you in advance for your support on this matter and I wish you all a very happy, (hopefully sunny) Easter break.
