Dyslexia Awareness Week

This week (1st to 7th October), in honour of Dyslexia Awareness Week, Mrs Farrell is running an artwork competition, whereby entrants will create their own interpretation of Dyslexia, to be displayed in our Dyslexia Hub (located in the Intervention Centre)…the winning entrant will also receive a prize and some goodies for their form group - so get creating!

We are also looking to recruit student Dyslexia Mentors within the Academy whose role it will be to raise awareness of Dyslexia, and our Dyslexia provision, within the Academy. With Dyslexia being one of the most common learning difficulties, we want our mentors to be role models that can reach out, encourage and demonstrate that Dyslexia is not a barrier to success. If you think you have the skills to inspire, see Mrs Farrell in the Intervention Centre.

Remember, we also have our Student Drop–in Dyslexia Support which takes place every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 2.45pm and 3.45pm in the Intervention Centre. This is an opportunity for students who may be concerned that they are dyslexic, to have any traits identified and to receive support, should they wish. The drop-in is also available to those who have already been identified as dyslexic, offering them that little bit of extra help.

Please see Mrs Farrell in the Intervention Centre for further information.
